Today, the life and career of Jessica Biel are the focus of our Hollywood Spotlight. Jessica Biel is best known as Mary Camden on the successful drama, 7th Heaven. The family-friendly television show focused on the life and family of Reverend Eric Camden. It ran for 11 seasons and was one of the most popular programs on the WB network. Her turn as Mary, the athletic girl-next-door, quickly made Jessica Biel a household name among teenagers. An award-winning start as a child star

In 1997, Jessica Biel starred in her first feature film, Ulee’s Gold. She received rave reviews for her performance as Peter Fonda’s granddaughter in the critically-acclaimed movie. Her turn as a troubled teenager struggling to connect with her grandfather was impressive. Notably, the talent she displayed was recognized with a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film – Supporting Young Actress. 

Following that success, she not only continued with 7th Heaven but began building an extensive Hollywood résumé. Some of her other roles include: I’ll Be Home for Christmas (1998), Summer Catch (2001), The Rules of Attraction (2002), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Blade: Trinity (2004), Elizabethtown (2005), The Illusionist (2006), I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (2007), Valentine’s Day (2010), The A-team (2010), New Year’s Eve (2011), Total Recall (2012), The Book of Love (2016), and A Kind of Murder (2016).

A return to television

In 2017, Jessica Biel returned to television with a starring role in The Sinner. The USA Network program focused on a disturbed young mother who surprisingly commits an act of public violence. Jessica Biel has received high praises for her performance from both her Hollywood peers and audiences. Additionally, she was an executive producer of the drama. On July 12, 2018, she received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. This was the first Emmy nod of her career.

Off film pursuits

This engaging celebrity has been actively involved with a variety of charities throughout her Hollywood career. In 2010, Jessica Biel participated in Summit on the Summit: Kilimanjaro, a mountain trek to the top of Africa’s highest peak. The adventure was filmed by documentarians to educate the world on the importance of clean water. Jessica Biel is also has become passionate about women’s reproductive health following the birth of her son, Silas. In partnership with WomanCare Global, she has helped create a videos educating women worldwide about their reproductive systems. These videos aim to not only answer questions but to remove the stigma of talking about women’s health.

Jessica Biel credits yoga, circuit training, and a clean diet for her fit physique. A trained gymnast, she enjoys the clarity she gets from yoga. Maintaining fitness is so important that sometimes she and her husband, Justin Timberlake, even have dates at the gym. Combining her strength and beauty, its easy to understand why she has become the face of Gaiam’s new line of fitness apparel.

As of July 2, Jessica Biel can be seen in theaters in Shock and Awe. This Rob Reiner movie is based on the journalists who questioned the United States’ motives in the 2003 Iraq War. But if you’d rather have a night in, episodes of the first season of The Sinner are now available to stream on Netflix.
