A great New Year’s resolution is to go greener in the coming year, and there’s no better way to lighten your carbon footprint than with an electric car. There are more choices than ever, whether you prefer a sporty coupe or a roomy sedan. Narrowing down your choices is going to be the toughest part of the process, but with this list, you have plenty of options to give Santa. Here are the top electric cars being released in 2019, along with all their perks:

  1. 2019 Audi e-tron. This gorgeous gem is the only Audi SUV built with an electric framework. It’s perfect for road trips, and the Audi e-tron provides all-wheel drive with an impressive long range. Now you can truly take an electric car on a road trip in the style and comfort you deserve. It’s aerodynamically designed for minimal drag and comes with the premium interior you expect of an Audi. LED taillights and the Single frame grille offer an air of distinction never before expected from an electric vehicle.
  2. Tesla Model 3. Created specifically to give Tesla lovers (and newcomers) a level of unprecedented luxury, the Model 3 has hit some road bumps since reservations started in 2016. However, 2019 is shaping up to be a stellar year for the Model 3 thanks to its 310-mile range, making it a favorite for road trips. Plus, add in the impressive 0-60 acceleration in just 3.5 seconds, and Tesla is continuing to reinvent what drivers think of electric cars.
  3. 2019 Nissan Leaf. There’s been no price increase on this favorite electric car, but it’s also not adding any extra electric range—but that’s in the works. Available as the Leaf S, Leaf SV, and Leaf SL, the 2019 Leaf is the same dependable and sporty vehicle that many Nissan drivers have come to know and love. With the added feature of a Rear Door Alert, similar to a warning in other vehicles, there are a few added perks that have shoppers considering a Leaf as their go-to green car for the New Year.
  4. 2019 Chevy Bolt. This attractive ride comes in a new Model 3 that boasts a 220-mile range. It’s an impressive reach for such an affordable car, but there’s also a long-range version available that goes up to 310 miles. The Chevy Bolt model has quickly become a benchmark for other electric vehicles featuring a battery charge time of 9.3h at 220V. It also gets 128 city miles and 110 highway, which is one of the major factors causing drivers to reconsider electric vehicles.
  5. 2019 BMW Mini E. Although BMW has said they’ll release at least a dozen electric vehicles by 2025, the Mini E is slated to be the first. It comes with a 1.5 L 3-cylinder engine and a starting price just under $37,000. Depending on a 12-mile battery-only range, this is sure to be a game changer for BMW. The warranty is also impressive with a four-year 50,000 basic and power train option available.

Switching to an electric vehicle used to be a big leap of faith. The ranges were short and since there were so many newcomers, it was a risk for drivers. For the past few years, electric vehicles have been “commuter” cars or second cars for many drivers, but that’s about to change. There is at least an ev charging station in every town, including in the suburbs and even some rural areas. Check with your CPA to see about any federal or state perks available for the coming year, and you may be able to save even more when purchasing a new vehicle. Going green has never been easier, more affordable, or more attractive.
