Every day, we are surrounded by stress and pressure at work, from home, and in every other corner of our lives. It is not only a hard way to live your life, but it physically takes a toll on your body. When you are under a lot of stress mentally, it starts to show physically, not only because you are probably neglecting your body, but because your body reacts to your mind. So if you want to have good mental and physical health, it’s imperative you do something to combat that stress. And what better way to do that than to create your personal spa setting at home. So if you want to be able to have a spa day any day of the week, here are some things that should absolutely find a place in your home.

1. Scented Candles

There really isn’t any chance of mimicking the atmosphere that you can create with candles burning around you. Especially if the candles you use are scented with some calming smells. The good part about this is that you can buy the scents that you personally enjoy – something fruity like orange and grapefruit, or something creamy like vanilla or cinnamon. If you’re afraid of live flames, you can get some fake candles that mimic the flames when turned on, and you can substitute the scent with some incense or a scent diffuser. Just make sure you dim any harsh overhead lights to really get the sense of a relaxing spa.

2. A Massage Appliance

You can’t have a spa day without a good massage. But very few of us are lucky enough to live with a physical therapist who can give us a firm but relaxing massage whenever we need one. And a clumsy amateur massage can do more harm than good to our muscles – and especially to our spine.

A better option is to get something like a massage seat that can rub your back up and down as much as you want. There’s many on the market, and the pros over at appliancereviewer.co.uk/best-massage-seat-cushions/ say that it’s a better option to get a massage cushion or pad. This way, you can set it wherever you want, and you won’t have one big bulky appliance to store away.

3. Good Sound

All of your senses are important when you are trying to relax. One of those is sound – you should be surrounded by sounds that calm you and relax you. If you live in a relatively quiet area, then what you need is some good speakers that will fill your space with some calming music or sounds of nature like rain and bird chirps. However, if you live in a busy, noisy area where you can’t really get some peace, then what you need are noise-canceling headphones. They work by not only giving you sound but actually actively canceling the noise that is around you. This will allow you to isolate yourself and really commit to enjoying your time and relaxing your body and mind.

4. Full-Size Tub

You really can’t have a full spa experience without submerging yourself in a bath of hot water. And for this – you’ll need a tub. But perhaps worse than not having any tub is having one that is too small to fit in comfortably. Because if you come out of the tub and your neck is stiff, or your knees are locked, you won’t really be having a nice time. Along with the tub, you’ll want your favorite accessories like scrubs, bath bombs, and even waterproof phone protectors.

5. Soft towels

If you want the full spa experience, you’ll want the softest towels, bathrobes, and everything else that touches your skin. Don’t use these towels for regular showering, because they will wear out and lose their fluffiness and comfort. If you do notice that they’re not as soft as when you first got them, taking them to be dry cleaned or washing them with soapstones might help bring some of that back. You might also want to put them on a warm radiator to heat up before you use them for an ultra-luxurious experience. You can store these special towels in air-tight containers to make sure that they don’t get dusty in between uses.

By taking time to relax, we’re helping ourselves recover both our mind and our body. Take this time to turn off your phone, tune out of any stress and your usual environment, and come back after the spa treatment fresher than ever. Your body and your mind will be refreshed. And the best part is – you don’t even have to leave your home to do it.
