Holiday season is upon us. The time for family gatherings, gift giving and celebrations has come, whether you’re prepared or not.  So what should you do if you want to celebrate the holidays a bit differently this year? What if you’re sick of the same boring old traditions? Don’t panic. (Image Credit: Terri Cnudde/ Pixabay)

Here are a few ideas on how to make your holiday gatherings more fun, more unique and more memorable. They’re sure to please even your stuffiest relatives.

Host a themed holiday party. Ugly sweater parties have been all the rage for Christmas for awhile now, but why not take it a step further, and celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas with a fun theme? You could try Christmas onesies theme party, ‘Christmas around the world’ party, or a Thanksgiving luau, and take the fun level up a notch.

Drink champagne…and open it with a saber. COUP Champagne is self described as the best craft champagne in the world, and so far, it’s living up to the hype. Some bottles even come with a saber for opening the champagne. It is a patented technology that is safe and effective. Though Napoleon was the first to saber a bottle of champagne 200 years ago, COUP believes even he would be proud of their saber innovation. I bet your relatives would be impressed too.

Plan a family cook-off. Not only will this save you from having to do all the prep work and cooking on your own, it will also make the holidays more fun and engaging.  Planning a family cook off puts a fun twist on holiday dinner parties, and takes the stress off one or two people.

Celebrate somewhere new.  Do you want to try something really new and exciting this holiday season? Plan a trip with your family and celebrate the holiday festivities in an airbnb, a cabin rental, or hotel suite large enough to accommodate everyone. If you’d rather forego the family gatherings, you could also commemorate the holidays by taking a solo trip that you’ve been putting off.

Although the holidays are generally a time of year associated with boring old traditions, there’s no better time to introduce newer, fun traditions than  this year. By daring to step outside the box and add a little flair to the holidays, you’ll create memories to last a lifetime.
