If a regular sedan isn’t quite exciting or good enough for you, consider checking out the 2021 BMW Alpina B7. It has been developed by the independent manufacturer Alpina and is a high-performance 7 Series present at your local dealer. It sits somewhere in between the 750i and M760i, using the engine of the former and boosting it to power levels similar to them later.

Engine and Performance

You’d expect a lot from the 600 power horse, however, like other luxury cars, Alpina B7 still over-delivers. The 0 to 60 mph sprint takes place in just 3.6 seconds, which is quite amazing for a car of this size. However, the B7 isn’t just a speed demon. The powerful brakes of the car bring the car to an immediate halt from 60 mph to 0 mph. Moreover, the handling of the car is quite smooth, mainly due to the presence of trick adaptive dampers. The steering is also well-tuned and nicely balanced overall.

Comfort Levels

This luxury car is quite comfortable, starting with the seats which set a standard for this class. The car comes with extensive seat adjustments with a massage setting and pillow-like headrests. The overall perception of luxury continues with the smooth suspension calibration. Even at high speeds, the ride is quite firm and not harsh. Moreover, there is minimal wind, road, or tire noise.

Interior Features

The fundamentals of B7’s interior are stellar. Similar to other cars in this class, B7’s sheer size provides a lot of interior space front and back. Only the person in the middle seat will feel a bit uneasy due to the elevated seat position.

The B7 Alpina is easy to get in and out because the air suspension can raise the height to allow an easy entry or exit. It is quite easy to see in and out because of the large number of cameras and sensors which even cover the blind spots.

Tech Features

This BMW car has taken the kitchen-sink approach when it comes to tech, keeping all the previous model features plus adding a few of its own. The driving aids have been well-executed and take the frustration out of the stop-and-go grind. The camera system is excellent and shows different angles you’d want for parking. The voice control system listens and responds to commands with ease and quickness. One downside regarding the tech is that the B7 Alpina doesn’t support Android yet, however, this functionality will come soon. Currently, iPhone users can enjoy wireless Apple CarPlay right now.

Safety

The B7 Alpina is quite an exclusive car, therefore, it hasn’t been tested by the NHTSA or the IIHS. However, since the car is based on the 7 Series, the availability of advanced features won’t be an issue. The car has all the necessary safety elements. Some of the amazing safety features of the car are:

  • Forward collision mitigation
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Blind-spot monitor
  • Lane Keeping system
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Automated parking system

Price

In the USA, the 2021 BMW B7 Alpina costs around $143,200. This price is at par with its competitors. For more information, visit BMW USA.

The ridiculous acceleration and the smooth handling make the B7 Alpina fun, however, the sheer luxury of the car is what makes it so addicting. So, if you want a mix of speed and comfort, you should buy the BMW B7 Alpina.
