Many of us driving on Robertson Blvd near Burton Way have seen Sculpture Design Imports with its large Centaurs flanking its entrance and its beautiful stone urns and lions. I finally stopped in to see what this Beverly Hills landmark was all about. What I found was a rare gem for luxury homes, hotels and commercial sales. (In the above image the large fountain in driveway is another made by Sculpture Design Imports and installed in a Beverly Hills private home. Interior Designer, landscaper & architect was Roy Sklarin)
I was greeted by the owner George Judah who established Sculpture Design Imports in 1979. He took me on a tour of his showroom, which was a treasure house of the very finest hand-carved sculptures, fountains, urns, gazebos, fireplace mantels, benches, pedestals, columns, and other architectural elements. All were made from exquisite marble and limestone that had been carefully selected from George’s travels abroad.
George explained to me that Sculpture Design Imports does custom design orders from any photo or drawing. Furthermore, Sculpture Design Imports also carries a broad selection of bronze sculptures for exterior or interior use. And like their stone sculptures, they customize bronzes. Installations, restorations and repairs are also their specialty.
Browse through Sculpture Design Imports website catalog and you’ll see a large sampling of products available. But this is only the beginning George believes his catalog of product is a starting point in creating pieces to compliment any style home. That is why they gladly offer customization on most items. They also ship anywhere in the world.
Sculpture Design Imports has been in business for over thirty-seven years with George at the helm. As George says, “Over the last 37 years we’ve worked on every type of project from small to monumental, including some pretty notable celebrities. I only specify the finest marble and limestone, making sure each carving is exceptionally detailed. But what we are most proud of is how many repeat clients we have. Many of my clients I’ve known since I opened the doors of my store.” Speaking to George you can see he is quite passionate after all these years about what he does, but what struck me most is how much he enjoyed working with his clients and the relationships he has built. Its not surprising he has such a loyal clientele.
George Judah, owner.
