Since the mid-nineties, Dubai has grown into a major tourist destination, with more people visiting the city each year. Its incredible expansion has led to it becoming a mecca for visitors from all over the world – with an estimated 100 million people visiting the city each year, there’s always something going on/

Although Dubai is classified as a ‘mega-city’, there are still plenty of attractions that allow for some excellent sightseeing opportunities. One of these is the zoo, which is located in the city’s northern area and features native animals such as elephants, giraffes and lions. It’s a popular attraction with children, who can climb into the enclosures and get up close to the animals – providing valuable interaction opportunities: https://lwkconcierge.com/lifestyle/experiences/

Wildlife-Watching

One of the main reasons why people visit Dubai is for the incredible wildlife that the city is host to. The city’s desert landscape is a magnet for birds and mammals, which makes it a fantastic location for watching wildlife. There are more than 20 mammal species, including gazelles, deer and raptors (eagles) that visitors can spot here. It’s not uncommon to see cheetahs, leopards and even black lemons (wild dogs), all of which are endangered species.

The city’s parks and reserves are also home to a number of bird species, making them great places for watching wildlife. The Dubai Conservancy, a private corporate foundation which promotes and protects biodiversity and the environment, runs some fantastic tours to help visitors get the most out of their trip. One of their signature excursions is the Dhow cruise, a sunset boat ride along Dubai’s coastline, which provides wonderful views of the city and its environs. Tourists are also able to get up close and personal with some of Dubai’s most iconic animals, including its many flamingos, at the Dubai Aquarium and Zoo. This aquarium is home to more than 350 different types of fish, which visitors can touch and hold. It’s a great way for children to learn more about the environment and the animals that live in it.

Although these tours are a great way to get up close and personal with some of Dubai’s most famous animals, the city’s coastline is teeming with life of its own, from massive fish to brightly coloured shorebirds. There are a number of companies in Dubai which offer fishing tours, giving visitors the chance to catch some fish and prepare them themselves – something which the locals definitely appreciate!

Dubai Creek, which runs through the centre of the city, is also a great place to spot wildlife. There are turtles, which tourists can purchase if they want to bring them home as a souvenir, and fish, which visitors can catch and eat. The Dubai Creek is also a great place to stroll and get a feeling of the city. It’s accessible all year round and features a number of parks and gardens along its waterfront. What’s more is that it’s completely free. Simply take a walk along its banks and you’ll soon see its headwaters, which are located in the United Arab Emirates.

Historical Attractions

Dubai is rich in historical attractions. The city’s fortifications were first erected in the early 15th century, with further constructions and renovations taking place throughout the centuries. There are more than 20 towers located along the Dubai coastline, many of which were originally built to protect the city from pirates and invaders.

The Dubai Museum, the largest museum in the city, is located in the Bur Dubai district. This is an old trading district that was originally established in the 19th century, making it one of the city’s oldest inhabited areas. Today, visitors can explore exhibits which chronicle the history of the country and its inhabitants. It’s a great opportunity to learn about Arabic culture and the Ummayad civilisation which originally inhabited the territory.

The Dubai Opera, one of the city’s most popular attractions, presents a collection of various pieces of traditional and modern art, as well as performing arts. It’s a great way to end the day, with the chance to indulge in some retail therapy and get a drink at an outdoor café, before taking a stroll back to your hotel.

Nightlife

Dubai is a city that never sleeps, with a variety of activities taking place around the clock. It’s not just about the day trip to the attractions located in the city either – with a variety of eating establishments, bars and clubs offering live music, visitors can enjoy the city’s nightlife to the fullest.

One of the best things about Dubai is that it offers something for everyone. There are heritage sights for those who want to explore the city’s historical sites, restaurants serving various cuisines for those who want to indulge in some haute cuisine, and entertainment venues for those who want to catch a movie or attend a live concert.

Whatever your interests are, there’s something in Dubai to suit you. Whether you visit the city for a day or a week, there’s plenty to keep you engaged.
