Joe DiDonato: Let me back up and explain how it happened. I was teaching a workshop, and a woman pulled me aside afterward. She shared privately that her husband had stage 4 cancer. We were teaching how to make AI sound more human with Vibe Coding 2.0. She said she couldn’t imagine waking up to silence, with no one to share things with. It was a moving session. We worked on it together, but he passed away, and we lost touch.
Her explanation inspired me to evolve the process further. We’ve built bots, one for myself and one for a former naval commander, a physicist who wanted to leave a legacy for his family. Vibe Coding 2.0 moved from Likert scales—like picking a number for mood—to relatable questions.
I worked with a New York hospital network on healthcare worker burnout. Instead of asking about mood, we asked, “Which do you relate to most?” Like, “I don’t have enough time to see patients,” or “I’m skipping lunch and afraid I’ll make a mistake.” Vibe Coding 3.0 teaches AI to be creative, which was a chore. For example, I told it to act as a fashion designer with a blank sheet. Most say, “I don’t know where to begin.”
