With 120 private jet landings per day soon expected in Ibiza, the island is experiencing a luxurious transformation of luxury accommodations.
A sublimely beautiful Island, Ibiza has long been a holiday destination with a strong luxury market, and, in the coming months, this is set to increase further still. With A-list celebrities and high net worth holidaymakers putting it to the top of their list for their 2016 summer getaway, Ibiza will this year experience a surge in luxury plane landings, with up to 120 private jets predicted to touch down on the island over the course of the summer.
Private Jet Arrivals
To cater for the increase in demand for luxury jets arriving in Ibiza, AENA – the Spanish aviation authority – has recently granted permission for the island’s airport to be expanded to 80,000m2. Currently, the airport can cater for 25 planes; the planned expansion will mean space for a total of 54. This comes after the recent expansion of the airport terminal building. In the peak season, Ibiza welcomes up to 120 planes per day to the airport in Eivissia. May saw passenger figures increase by 20.8%, which is a consistent growth rate on last year’s figures. This, in turn has boosted demand for Ibiza villas for 2016, and seems to forecast great things for the island’s luxury rental market in general.
A Varied Music Scene
For a Spanish island that boasts such stunning scenery – from inviting beaches to awe-inspiring coastlines – it’s unsurprising that there is a growing demand for holidays in the luxury bracket. Ibiza is associated with the best of European nightlife; although its strong reputation as a party island may have previously deterred a clientele looking for a relaxing and leisurely break, it seems that more and more travelers have discovered how the island’s incomparable music scene is not only super clubs, but also sophisticated beach bars.
So where are these extra visitors finding accommodation on the island? A luxurious Ibiza family villa is a choice that many affluent visitors are making for summer 2016. From contemporary villas with infinity pools to large villas with sea views, the range of family villas on the island is increasing with the increase of demand. Most are set in scenic locations with plenty of space for guests to relax and enjoy the sublime scenery. Often hidden in the hills, they offer a great way to experience the rugged landscape of Ibiza, and are particularly attractive to guests who ordinarily spend a lot of their time in a city. Typically speaking, a luxury Ibiza villa will sleep from 10 to 15 guests, and provide plenty of comfortable lounging space beside a stunningly designed swimming pool. The architecture will blend the traditional Ibiza look with sleek, modern interiors. Villa Cardona is a spectacular Ibizan property rental, set in the mountains above the St Jose road. The child-friendly villa is both characterful and contemporary and, due to its outdoors spaces and private setting, is very popular with large groups of discerning travelers.
For travelers who are looking for a luxury getaway to sunnier shores, there is a surprising availability of properties to rent, which boast secluded, tranquil settings, where the beauty of the island can be enjoyed in privacy away from the bustling towns – perfect for the many models, actors and influential figures that will spend their holidays on the island in 2016.
