The glamour that comes with being a celebrity has many people longing for a taste of fame. But is it always all camera flashes capturing perfect smiles and bodies? Here are five things that show just how stressful it can be to be a celebrity, living each day under the glare of cameras and the media.

Stalkers

We have all heard a story on the local news at some point about one stalker or another who got caught stalking a celebrity. You probably did not think too much about it at the time, or even felt that it was harmless. While it may not sound like a big deal, having people who are obsessed with you is not fun at all, since they can go to unbelievable extents, causing harm to others, themselves, or even you. Think about the fact that every year, between two and three million temporary restraining orders are put into effect in the U.S. When a celebrity has to do this, you can imagine how many lines the stalker crossed.

Worrying About Their Families

When you are a celebrity, the spotlight ends up not only shining on you but on your family as well. Your children and spouse get the most of it while parents and siblings are a bit distanced but still within the circle of scrutiny. This may cause you a lot of stress because you never know when someone will do or say something to your family that you have no control over. Bullying and intimidation may also be used against your family by people who are against you as a way to try and get to you. This, by itself, is a cause of a lot of stress and anxiety.

Career Anxiety

At any moment, the career of a celebrity may be cut short thanks to something they said or did, or just changing public opinion. A celebrity’s career often rests on how much people like and relate to them, and given how fickle the public’s feelings are, this is not a great position to be in. They may therefore be predisposed to stress as they don’t know which move will be fatal to their career, and this may cause them undue stress or push them into unhealthy coping mechanisms like drugs and alcohol. The fact that men experience ED most often as a result of lifestyle, behavioral, and situational choices up until 40 to 45 years of age, can also mean that male celebrities are facing even more stress than we see on the surface.

The Hassle That is Glam Events

The pressure that comes with preparing for glam events is not a joke. With endless hours spent coming up with a design and look that will wow the masses, it’s no wonder that some celebrities break down. In a world that judges people harshly based mostly on how they look, it’s easy to imagine the stress that the people focussed on by this microscope are put under. It looks easy enough because they are trained to maintain their poise and elegance, but is extremely difficult and stressful for a celebrity.

Lack of Privacy

As a celebrity, it is commonplace to have people screening you at your most private moments. This is not something that everyone can get used to and so some celebrities opt to live in areas that are not too media-centric. Houston is one of these places, and it saw 30,146 new home starts, a 10.4% increase in 2018 from 2017. This can help alleviate the stress that comes with constantly being photographed by paparazzi and more celebrities are opting for it.

To avoid being blinded by the splendour and glitz that seems to follow all celebrities all the time, it is important to take a look at real issues that affect them. This can help you stay objective when trying to figure out just how stressful being a celebrity is.
