Dream Cars: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT


Style, Elegance, Luxury, and Power; these words have been synonymous with the Mercedes brand ever since its inception. Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has been the pinnacle of this luxury motors manufacturer since 2011. The GT version of this famous dream car was first unveiled in 2012 during Belgium Grand Prix as a safety car but was off limits to retail customers until recently.

The design of these dream cars is both muscular and elegant. It is offered in two options a roadster or a gull-wing hardtop model to appease individual personalized tastes. This dream car features a cab rearward design which means the cabin is placed nearer to the rear axle providing better driving feel along with a long nose in the front giving it a unique distinct look. It features attractive cross fins and the famed Mercedes star emblem in the center of the front grill coated in high gloss black paint as is the side view mirrors, fins covering the heat extractors on the hood and front fenders. It also features AMG forged rims that are painted in black with matt finish and then clear coated to provide sheen. It also features darkened headlights and tail lights along with a distinct “GT” tag affixed to the rear end providing it a mean and aggressive look setting it apart from its counterparts.

The interior of the luxury SLS AMG GT lend a race car feel to it along with being luxurious and comfortable. The sport seats are comfortable and snug providing a commanding driving position. The seats are wrapped in leather along with Alcantra center sections and embossed badge on head rest. The door panels also receive Alcantra treatment lending the interior a premium and luxurious feel.  The interior theme is black with contrasting red seat belts and red stitching on seats, center console, floor mats, door panels and dashboard. The center console, door panel lining, cross-shaped air vents and metal inserts on the steering wheels all receive high gloss AMG trim. The steering wheel is sporty and is flat-bottomed with a red dot on the 12o’ clock position marking the center of the steering wheel. It also features an all black AMG instrument cluster. Other optional interior upgrades include AMG Designo Exclusive style leather, AMG interior carbon fiber package and Bang & Olufsen Beo sound system.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT features a 6.3 litre naturally aspirated V8 engine under the hood. This gem of an engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 591 HP @ 6800 rpm and an amazing torque of 650 Nm @ 4750 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7 speed sports transmission. It features dual clutch which directly transmits power to the rear wheels without the need for a differential as it is mounted in the rear axle minimizing power loss through driveline. These dream cars are capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.7 sec and has an electronically limited top speed of 198 mph. It comes with AMG Ride Control Performance Suspension System providing precise ride and excellent handling capability making it an amazing and fun to drive dream car.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is truly a remarkable car. The design is contemporary yet classy. The performance is breathtaking and addictive and the refinement level of the engine is truly amazing, even better than some more expensive cars. Overall it’s an exceptional high performing luxury car in a league of its own. However these dream cars doesn’t come cheap and is priced at $ 268,315 for the coupe version and $ 279,235 for the roadster version making it one of the most expensive cars on this planet. It is a worthy car for the rich and famous and will surely add elegance and flair to their garage.
