In her most recent book, DesignPOP, designer and television personality Lisa S. Roberts is taking a unique look at 82 design objects created between 2000-2014. To celebrate the book, published by Rizzoli, Roberts will host a series of events including a launch party and a weeklong pop-up shop.
Using 95% original photography, designer biographies, and a “Where to Shop” guide, DesignPOP acts as a bridge between the sometimes exclusive world of design and the general public, encouraging the reader to explore and discover the incredible design objects being created today.
With featured works from Michael Graves, the Campana brothers, Hella Jongerius, Karim Rashid, Ron Arad, James Dyson and more, the book features a wealth of radical and innovative designs—from those that pioneer the use of a new material or production process, to works that take sustainability to the next level.
The book was created out of inspiration from Roberts’ 2011 television show “My Design Life.” This docu-series followed Lisa and her team as they visited museums, exhibits, trade fairs and design stores, searching for the products to feature in DesignPOP.
“My mission is to spread the gospel of good design in a way that is accessible to everyone. Through my books, TV show, lectures, website, collections and travels, I have been exploring design for years and I want to share my knowledge and passion,” says Roberts.
To celebrate the launch of DesignPOP, Roberts will make a six-city book signing tour. During Design Miami/Art Basel (Dec 1-7) she will host a public pop-up shop, highlighting products featured in the book within the store of the Wolfsonian museum.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
A high-design enthusiast and connoisseur, Lisa S. Roberts began her career as an architect. After six years, she left the field to pursue her professional interests in product and graphic design. Most recently, she has designed products for museum stores, such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum, among others. In the early 1980s Roberts began collecting contemporary product design objects, which she calls “Antiques of the Future.” In 2006, Roberts published a book by the same title and, since that time, has traveled throughout the country speaking on the subject of design. In addition, Roberts serves on the executive committee and as a trustee of the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, and as a trustee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA).
