Billie Eilish is one of the youngest most successful musicians of today. At the age of 8, she already started singing. In our Hollywood spotlight series, we are going to look at her amazing journey through Hollywood.

She Doesnt Like Auditions

Billie Eilish had parents who supported her growth artistically and she figured out she was better without acting auditions which she really didn’t like at all. She felt safer around the songs she wrote and in singing classes with her mother. When she was 13, she began working on her songs with her brother Finneas. They released two songs together and uploaded it on Sound Cloud. Later in 2015, while she was still 13, she released her first single and a hit, ‘Ocean Eyes’, produced by Finneas.

The song received acclaim and she was recognised by Finneas’ manager who thought she could gain more success with Finneas help. In January 2016, she got signed to a company that would help in packaging her public image. She also got a Publicist and a Stylist to help her. In March, she released the video for ‘Ocean Eyes’ on her YouTube channel. These improvements connected her to big brands like Chanel and gave her more acclaim from Beats 1, KCRW, BBC One, Zane Lowe, Jason Kramer, Annie Mac, and Chris Douridas.

Joining a Record Label

Justin Lubliner liked Billie Eilish’s talent when he heard ‘Ocean Eyes’ and signed her to Interscope Records in 2016. This took her fame even further and she released her first EP in 2017. She also went on to make another hit called ‘Bellyache’ then sang ‘Bored’ for the movie ’13 Reasons Why’. Her next EP joined the Billboard 200 Chart at number 14 and led to interviews with entertainment podcasts and Apple declaring her an exciting up next artist.

Becoming More Established

Billie became an established performer in 2018. Embarking on tours and being recognised by Forbes in the 30 under 30 list. That year, she headlined two festivals and signed another contract with Next Management for Beauty and Fashion endorsements. In 2019, her EP ‘Don’t Smile at Me’ reached a billion streams on a project. Some of her songs released between 2018 and 2020 include ‘Bury a Friend’, ‘Wish You Were Gay, and a third album ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ In 2021, she released the song for HBO’s Euphoria and got two Grammys for the theme song for the James Bond Movie. She also added her talent to the three original songs written for the 2022 movie, Turning Red. They include, ‘Nobody like You’, ‘U Know What’s Up’ and ‘1 True Love’.

Awards

Seven Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, two MTV Europe Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, one Academy Award (Oscar), two Guinness World Records, one Brit Award, and three Billboard Music Awards have been bestowed upon Eilish.

She was named to Time’s inaugural “Time 100 Next” list in 2019. She is the second-youngest individual in Grammy history and the first female artist to win all four major categories in the same year: Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year. She won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “No Time to Die” from the James Bond film in 2022, making her the first person born in the twenty-first century to do so.
