We are used to seeing Hollywood’s brightest dazzle on the red carpet at various award shows, look effortlessly chic at film premiers and make grocery shopping look like a stylish affair! With an entourage consisting of their personal stylists, these stars almost always get it right, inspiring trends and sales. However, even some of our favorite celebrities are not immune to committing a fashion faux pas now and then. Take a look at some of the worst celebrity fashion mistakes that have been made in the name of Hollywood style.
Katie Holmes turned up at fashion’s most glamorous event, the Met Gala in this off-the-shoulder mustard gown by Marchesa. Not only is it unflattering to her figure, the rumpled hair does nothing to add to her look. Instead of accentuating her curves, the fabric is ill-fitting and nearly swallows her whole. Yellow is definitely in trend this season with several stars sporting gowns in this hue, however, maybe Katie needs to stick to what she does best: understated and classy! We love Katy Perry but this Dolce and Gabbana floral cape dress that she wore to a bash honoring The Beatles had us cringe a little bit. The short-fringed up do makes her overall look more unappealing, if that’s even possible. Capes generally tend to add a touch of regality to an outfit, but in this case, that cape just makes this gown look more like a curtain. Sorry Katy, we much prefer you in your rocker chic outfits! Whatever this look is, it is not a winner in our celebrity fashion polls.
The Oscars definitely classify as one of the most important evenings in Hollywood with everyone putting their best foot forward, fashion wise obviously! We are not sure that Chloe Grace Moretz’s strapless Miu Miu gown is doing her any favors. The sheer volume of the fabric in the middle makes the gown over sized and frumpy and although the edgy diamond ear cuff and make up are flawless, the dress makes it hard to concentrate on those elements!
Anyway, we’d love to hear about some of your fashion disasters. Write to us, we love hearing from our readers!
