The City of Beverly Hills is seeking an artist or teams of artists to design a mural inside the  entryway of the Enchanted Woods Room of the Beverly Hills Public Library. All artists interested in applying must submit a proposal and application by Friday, May 16, 2014.

“This is an exciting opportunity for artists to be featured in a historic and prestigious library. For more than 75 years, the Beverly Hills Public Library has served as a premier literary and cultural center for patrons of all ages,” says Nancy Hunt-Coffey, Assistant Director of Community
Services for Beverly Hills. “With the recent remodel of our 12,000-square-foot children’s library, the Enchanted Woods Reading Room is an extraordinary place for kids to explore, dream and discover traditions of the past as well as innovations of the future.”

Interested professional artists must submit a proposal inclusive of all project costs, including: design, travel, materials, installation, protection, and insurance. The artist selected for this project will receive $85,000 to develop original mural work at this location.

A pre-proposal meeting and teleconference will be hosted at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 10, in the Beverly Hills Public Library Meeting Room South to share information and answer questions about design specifications for mural work.

The final proposal deadline is at 5:00p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014. No late entries will be accepted. Please postmark or deliver proposal materials to: Library Mural Project, City of Beverly Hills c/o Beverly Hills Public Library, 444 N. Rexford Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.

The children’s area art project is being sponsored by the Friends of the Beverly Hills Library, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the library’s best-loved and most needed collections and programs.
