Rising Singing Star: Natasha Elise

A Beverly Hills native, Natasha Elise is no stranger to the glitz and glamour of fame and fortune. She is forging her own path to stardom pursuing her God given talent as a singer. With a special ability to write songs to touch the hearts of all, we are excited to see this rising star shine brightly bringing lyrical genius out for all to enjoy.

Let’s learn more about this musical maven…

Beverly Hills Magazine:  When did you discover your passion as a singer?

Natasha Elise:   I’ve been singing my entire life. I was in choir throughout my childhood, participated in musical theater, both, in and out of school, and realized at 15 years old that there was nothing in this world I would enjoy more than pursuing my passion to be a singer and songwriter.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  What is your signature as a musical artist?

Natasha Elise:  As young as I am, having just turned 18, I will be growing and evolving throughout my career, however, I know that my love for incorporating numerous musical genres into my craft will always be an important aspect of my songwriting and singing career. I have a fairly broad vocal range, and am always looking to expand and challenge myself.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  Who or what are your lyrical inspirations?

Natasha Elise:  This is an extremely daunting question for me due to the fact that I am absolutely terrible at picking favorites (I end up feeling as if I left someone or something out). Even so, I think my lyrical inspirations come from my own experiences in life and relationships, looking at things from another person’s point of view, and studying people. While there are multiple specific artists I could name that have inspired me, Eminem and Halsey are two lyricists that definitely made me want to write my own songs.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  What is your vision for your career? Where do you hope to go with it?

Natasha Elise:  I want to create good music. Music has always been there for me. It is pretty difficult to describe the feeling I get when I find a new song that I can connect with. I want to be able to create music that people can relate to. That is the most important goal for me. I really would love to work with a variety of extremely talented producers, engineers, artists, and songwriters, as I think the collaboration process is beneficial in progressing as an artist. In the future, I see myself dabbling in fashion, acting and all aspects of this industry. I’ve always been a very creative person.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  What does your music represent or what is your message?

Natasha Elise:  My music should mean whatever the listener wants it to mean. I believe that people connect with music in all different ways, and I think that that’s what is so incredible about singing and music in general. It connects people no matter the differences. I hate sappy messages, but in all seriousness, I think my message would be to be who you are, to know that every emotion you feel is valid, and to live life with no regrets.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  How has God played a part in your career?

Natasha Elise:  I believe that each person’s connection or lack of connection to God is deeply personal and is not something I speak of publicly. My moral compass does guide my career choices.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  What is your greatest passion in life?

Natasha Elise:  Music. Period.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  What are some of the challenges you’ve faced as an artist?

Natasha Elise:  There have been multiple times where I have compared my songwriting, singing, and overall, creative abilities to those who inspire me. It can be extremely difficult to disassociate yourself from others’ work and come to terms with the fact that just because you may wish that you came up with that idea, doesn’t mean that there will not be a time where people think the same of your own work. I also have struggled with the fact that I can be a perfectionist, which can really get in the way of my creative process, but I always find a way to work through it. There are many other struggles I have dealt with, but I am well aware of the fact that I will face much bigger ones down the line. I just have to remember that it is all a part of the journey.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  What are the greatest rewards?

Natasha Elise:   I think hearing people sing my lyrics back to me is a huge reward due to the fact it tells me that I did something right.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  What makes an artist successful?

Natasha Elise:  Selling out arenas, making money, and getting number one hits are all incredible achievements, but people telling you that a certain song touched them or changed their life is what I consider to be success.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  Do you have a life motto, quote or Bible scripture you live by?

Natasha Elise:  As the incredible Johnny Depp once said, “Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.” Kurt Cobain once said, “I’d rather be hated for who I am, than be loved for who I am not.”

Beverly Hills Magazine:  What advice would you give to aspiring singers?

Natasha Elise:  My advice to aspiring singers would be to always push yourself. You will find that you are much more capable than you think you are. I know this is cliché, but please never ever forget to believe in yourself because if you don’t believe in you, than the world won’t be able to see what to believe in. Finally, never box yourself in, or label yourself if you don’t want to be.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  When God allows someone to be promoted it is usually because He has a great purpose for their life, especially as an influencer. How do you plan to use your platform and position in the spotlight as a force for good as opposed to evil in this world?

Natasha Elise:  I strongly believe that music brings people together and that lyrics can be used to speak truths that many people can relate to, draw comfort from, and find connections through. I aim to use my spotlight and my songs to create community and give voice to people who likely do not have those same opportunities.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  Have you discovered a personal purpose in what you do?

Natasha Elise: Singing and songwriting have allowed me to express my emotions a million times better than I have ever been able in other ways. I am a very complex person and there are many layers to unfold, but sharing my music with others has enabled me to open up a lot more than I am used to. I also believe that a huge purpose of doing what I do is to provide an outlet for others when they might not be as willing to open up on their own.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  Anything else you would like to add or share?

Natasha Elise: I just would like to mention that I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity to speak about my music and share my thoughts with your readers and audience!
