If there is a single running link that binds every single human being together – it might be that BIG dream. The grand idea. Those who have ‘made it’ have acted on their dreams, those who have yet to make it are looking at ways that they can make their dreams work. For many, that dream business idea might just exist in the mind.
There are plenty of ways we can create wealth in the modern day. From investing and producing wealth from real estate investments to operating our own business. Technology has made everything that little bit easier, and sometimes cheaper, for us. If you want to make money, you can! You just need to find the right opportunities, the right gap in the market, the right idea. Then you need to make it work. As said, technology makes it easier than ever to follow your dreams and if you want to boost your brand, show off your work or get into business, then producing an app might just be the best idea you will ever have.
With any idea, you should never – ever – rush into it with at least a modicum of forethought. If you have an idea but decide not to plan out of either excitement, being too impatient or recklessness – your idea may very well crumble before it even took off! Lay a solid foundation with planning, forethought and good research to see if making an app is right for you. Discover the cost of developing an app, find some user statistics – see if your target market actually use apps. Look at some sales and see if there is money to be made. Take a look at your competition and identify the areas where you could do better. Don’t go into it without taking on at least one, if not all, of these aspects of planning. The more productive you are with your planning and pre-production, the smoother everything will go and you’ll have some better results.
What could you do with an app? Well the possibilities are only ever going to be limited by your imagination and creativity. Of course, the possibilities will also be limited by the reasoning behind the app – is it for your business, is the app the business? Is there another reason for the app? This might carve out a smaller niche and audience for your app, but it will also mean you need to reign in some of your ideas to be more suitable. Good mobile applications serve a direct purpose instead of trying to meet too many needs. Find your purpose and build the app around that, than trying to please a wider audience. The app marketplace is going crowded, so you need to stand out. If you are a photographer, it could be a great way to visually showcase your photos and work, if you are an artist the same would apply. You can easily sell prints and your work with an app.
Should you choose an app over a website? No. You should do both well! An online presence is key to any sort of success in this day and age. If you are going to ignore that, then you might not get as far as you’d hoped and your dreams may not totally become a real thing at all. A web presence is the foundation of everything you are going to do with an app – you want to have a website or a blog that will be the center of everything you do, and you need to have social media channels that bring people to that hub while existing, legitimately, on their own standing. Social media channels that just parrot the latest website posts are useless. This goes for your app as well – will it simply repeat the output of your social media channels and website, or is it going to dare to be different?
Apps have changed the way we do things. For good – look at people like AirBnB, who own not a single piece of property but are one of the biggest hotel chains, or Facebook, one of the world’s biggest content creators that makes not a single piece of content. If you’ve got a good idea, the demand could very well be out there. It won’t work if you don’t plan, though and it will fall apart if you fail to stand out. Make an app that boosts what you do, or changes the way things work for great success. It is all in your hands now!
