Nabota is a well-known drug from South Korea, which is widely used to combat mimic wrinkles. Is a muscle relaxant of peripheral action. The principle of action is similar to that of Botox. Nabota contains botulinum toxin type A, a poisonous substance produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Mechanism of action
Botulinum toxin type A blocks the peripheral release of acetylcholine at presynaptic cholinergic nerve endings by cleaving SNAP-25, an integral part of the coupling and release of acetylcholine by vesicles located in the nerve endings.
After injection, the primary rapid binding of the toxin to the surface receptors of some cells occurs. This is followed by transmission of the toxin across the plasma membrane via receptor-mediated endocytosis. Then the toxin is released into the cytosol, which is accompanied by a gradual slowdown in the release of acetylcholine. Clinical signs appear within 2-3 days, the maximum effect is observed 4 weeks after injection.
Recovery from intramuscular injection occurs within 12 weeks as the nerve endings regrow and reconnect with the terminal lamina.
