Great Ways To Keep Employees Happy
If you really want to increase your staff happiness rates, productivity levels, and overall atmosphere at your workplace, then you might be thinking about what perks you could offer your employees. You don’t need a massive budget to do this, either. It really can be something small and unique which makes a difference. It is all about setting your place of employment above and beyond what other companies might offer, to attract the best employees, and of course – to retain them.
Here are just some ideas you could consider:
#1 – Who loves a fruit basket? An affordable idea, offering a weekly fruit basket gives staff a healthy snack in the day, which is completely free to them. Not only this, but you as an employer also receive a lot of benefits, too. Firstly, you’re seen as a caring employer. Secondly, you provide your employees with a healthy snack (rather than chocolate or crisps) which could in the long run reduce illness rates (and therefore absenteeism.) Fruitful Office (who provide such fruit baskets to offices around the UK) say that “A UK survey revealed that 87% of staff would rather be employed by a company that offers health and well-being support. Over 80% of our clients told us that following the introduction of fruit in the office “Quality of life in the office” improved.” Apple, anyone?
#2- A sauna in a lunch break – How about offering a little spa treatment to staff while they are at work? Transferwise, which is a company that offer the transfer of funds in different currencies across the world, set up a sauna in their offices for staff to use in their breaks. They get a refreshing and relaxing treatment, which clears their minds and sets them up for more productive work in the afternoon.
#3 – Classic gaming- The company WorldFirst has an arcade machine with classic games for employees to play in their offices. This gives staff the chance to really have a ‘chill out’ when on their breaks. By switching of from work for a while, they can be more productive when they return to their desks. It is a great way to get staff to interact too, enforcing happier teams.
#4 – Food and music – We have all heard of JustEat, but did you know that they give employees free food and drink every Friday? Not only this, but they also set up a resident DJ spinning the decks so that they can dance, too. What a way to loosen up around your colleagues, in what could usually be a high stress or extra-pressure environment!
#5- Tickets to good stuff – VisitBritain employees receive free West End theatre tickets through partners to some of the best new attractions or events across Britain. Why not seek out an event and try and get a group booking through them to reduce the cost to you? You can offer some fantastic evening shows or weekend breaks to your staff and they will thank you for it. What a great treat!
