During the 1990s, the business jet manufacturers introduced a new jet category; the super-midsize. The main idea was to provide large-cabin comfort with midsize operating efficiencies. Over the next few years, many manufacturers introduced various strategies in pursuit of this market niche, and that’s when Bombardier introduced the Bombardier Challenger 300.

The Challenger 300, originally known as the Continental Business Jet BD-100, is a medium-sized transcontinental business jet. The company renamed the aircraft back in 2002.

Performance and Handling

The Honeywell HTF7000 engines make this aircraft fast and efficient. When fully loaded, the jet easily uses runways under 5,000 feet long and climbs more than 4,200 feet per minute. Moreover, it burns as little as 178 gallons of fuel per hour at high-cruise speed settings or around 470 knots. Moreover, the aircraft has a non-stop range of 5,741km, combined with its ability to take off from airstrips of 1,509m. The high cruise speed is Mach 0.82 at 870km/h and the main operating altitude is 13,716m.

The engines of this luxury jet are so powerful that the pilots routinely have to pull the power back to avoid overspeeding. Moreover, the handling of the plane is quite easy. Any pilot who has flown other jets before can easily fly it.

Exterior

The structure of the Bombardier Challenger 300 was fine-tuned with the help of a supercomputer program that created its 3-D models. Most of the jet is made of aluminum. Moreover, it uses high-intensity-discharge xenon landing lights, which have a life of over 10,000 hours. There is also a new troubleshooting software system installed in the jet, which provides the mechanics with step-by-step instructions to find and fix the problems. So, this helps reduce the maintenance and labor costs.

Interior

The interior of the Bombardier Challenger 300 is quite luxurious. The passenger cabin has an area of around 13.28m2 and can accommodate 8 passengers easily. Moreover, the cabin has tracked swiveling recliner seats each with a table, a telephone point, and a power point.

There is a baggage compartment at the rear of the cabin, which is accessible in flight. Moreover, the cabin and the baggage compartments are air-conditioned. At the rear of the cabin is the galley having passenger facilities.

Infotainment

The Bombardier Challenger 300 features the Rockwell Collins Pro Lines 21 avionics system, with four 12×10 inch LCD screens. The EICAS (Engine Indication and Crew Altering System) comes standard. This system provides engine performance information like fuel flow, oil and turbine temperatures, torque, and environmental control information. Some other pre-installed systems in the jet include the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) and the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II).

Price

The Bombardier Challenger 300 costs around $13,000,000. For more information, visit the Controller website.

The Bombardier Challenger 300 delivers high performance. Moreover, the jet is quite easy to operate and maintain. So, if you want to go on long flights, you should consider buying the Bombardier Challenger 300.
