Beverly Hills Magazine: It’s wonderful to have you, Paul. It’s such an honor to spend time with you today. I’m excited to learn about your story and how you became the founder and life coach of Premiere Destiny. Let’s start from the beginning—can you take us back to your immigration story? What brought you to the United States and that leap of faith?

Paul Tembunde: Thank you, Jacqueline. My story is a long one. I came to the U.S. from Cameroon, West Africa, at 20 to pursue college studies. There was something about America that drew me in—I had the chance to go to England or other African countries, as my dad could afford it, but America called me. My college sweetheart, now my wife Joan, went to England, while I came here. I got bitten by the American business bug, graduated college, and dreamed faintly of being a stockbroker, though I doubted my math skills. I worked as a security guard and leasing consultant, and when Joan joined me after her master’s in international business finance, we started our entrepreneurial journey.

Beverly Hills Magazine: That’s inspiring, especially as an immigrant myself from South Africa, I know the American dream is alive. Can you share more about your early entrepreneurial ventures and the challenges you faced?

Paul Tembunde: Absolutely, the American dream is real! Early on, I was introduced to Amway, a network marketing company. I was excited about owning a business for a few hundred dollars, but I didn’t make much money—mostly buying products myself. However, Amway introduced me to personal development through books like Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, which ignited my passion for learning and growth. Joan and I later ventured into IT—she became a database administrator, and I became a Microsoft Systems Engineer. Before that, we struggled financially, combining our paychecks to cover rent in a one-bedroom apartment, shopping at cheap stores, and mixing frozen juice with water. IT was a game-changer; we could pay our mortgage with one check and bought a townhouse, but we still faced months where money ran short.

Beverly Hills Magazine: That’s incredible progress. How did you transition into the home care industry, and what was that leap of faith like?

Paul Tembunde: Joan was working as a certified nursing assistant, caring for seniors, and suggested we explore the home care industry since other ventures required capital we didn’t have. After I was laid off as a Microsoft Systems Engineer, we took a $12,000 credit card loan to start a home care franchise from our townhouse basement. We couldn’t afford an office, so I used two phones—one for clients, one for caregivers—and met clients at coffee shops or rented office spaces. We met employees at libraries to process paperwork and paid them at fast-food restaurants like McDonald’s or Wendy’s. Those first few years were the hardest, but we loved serving vulnerable seniors, many without nearby family. Our mission to make a difference kept us going.

Beverly Hills Magazine: That’s a giant leap of faith, especially after losing your job. How did your home care business grow from those humble beginnings?

Paul Tembunde: It was tough, but we were determined to control our destiny. About a year and a half to two years in, our hard work paid off, and we bought our first office. Two years later, we purchased a second office—twice as large—paying cash. We kept growing, hiring more people, and eventually bought a third and fourth office. Now, 23 years later, we manage four offices serving thousands of clients. Our growth came from our commitment to service and making a difference in people’s lives.

Beverly Hills Magazine: Congratulations on that amazing growth! What led you to found Premier Destiny, and how did your faith play a role?

Paul Tembunde: About 10 to 12 years into the home care business, I got restless—maybe the entrepreneur in me. I felt there was more I could do. As a person of faith, I prayed and meditated, and while walking one morning, I heard a YouTube video by a mentor who said people fail because they don’t know what they want due to ignorance. That resonated with me. I signed up for his year-long coaching program without telling Joan initially, and it revealed untapped gifts within me. Joan later joined, and the knowledge we gained helped us buy our third and fourth offices. Inspired to share this transformation, we founded Premiere Destiny to enlighten, empower, and inspire others to discover their greatness and fulfill their divine calling.

Beverly Hills Magazine: I love the name Premiere Destiny! Can you tell us about Joan’s book and how it ties into your mission?

Paul Tembunde: Thank you! Joan wrote Money Locates You, a spiritually based book born from our mentor’s coaching. It’s about manifesting abundance through faith and mindset. It’s available on Amazon, but as a gift to your audience, we’ll share an e-book version. The book reflects our mission at Premier Destiny to help people transform their minds, align with abundance, and live out their purpose, just as the coaching transformed our personal and business lives.

Beverly Hills Magazine: That’s generous, thank you! What mindsets are essential for financial abundance, and how do you help people cultivate them?

Paul Tembunde: A growth mindset is crucial—believing you can learn and grow. Joan and I needed someone to awaken that in us. Awareness is key; without it, you can’t seize opportunities, like missing an invitation to a state dinner. Exposure through programs, books, or inspiring stories—like the serial entrepreneur you interviewed—sparks possibility thinking. We encourage openness to learning, rejecting victimhood, and taking personal responsibility. At Premiere Destiny, we help people see their potential, choose victory over victimhood, and make productive use of their 24 hours, knowing success is a mindset.

Beverly Hills Magazine: You believe money is spiritual before it’s practical. Can you elaborate on that mindset?

Paul Tembunde: I believe in abundance—there’s enough for everyone to manifest in their lives. As people of faith, we see the world as abundant: fish in the sea, air we breathe, sunlight—all free and limitless. We’re already multimillionaires in our being. The Bible tells us even birds are cared for, but they must leave the nest to get food. Similarly, we must act in faith to access abundance, trusting God’s limitless supply.

Beverly Hills Magazine: I agree.  Faith is trust in God, moving forward to co-create our destinies with Him, aligning us with the right people and resources.

Beverly Hills Magazine: That’s powerful. Who would benefit from working with Premiere Destiny, and how do you help them?

Paul Tembunde: We work with small business owners, especially in home care, and professionals seeking their mission. We guide them through a process to discover their gifts and scale their businesses enjoyably. For home care owners, we leverage our 23 years of experience to help them
