Great Things to Do in Bryce Canyon City, Utah

The Bryce Canyon National Park is the central attraction in this southern part of Utah. However, there’s the Bryce Canyon City just a handful of miles away with things to do there too. This part of the state is an outdoor paradise for people who enjoy incredible scenery and unusual rock formations while they do a bit of trekking. (Images Credit: Pixabay)

Here are a few things to do in Bryce Canyon City and nearby when wanting to get away.

Ebenezer’s Barn & Grill Restaurant

The Western-themed Ebenezer’s Barn and Grill is a Bryce Canyon Restaurant that’s remained a place to visit in the city for many years. It has a cowboy inspired décor and a menu to match. Along with the flat iron steak, there’s the Cowboy chicken dinner plate, baked salmon for fish lovers, a vegetarian dish, and a BBQ meal to satisfy any kids who are dining out too.

This Bryce Canyon restaurant is in the heart of Bryce Canyon City opposite Ruby’s Inn, which was first opened in 1916. There are musical entertainers of different flavors to enjoy on select days or evenings, as well as periodic events too.

Bryce Canyon National Park

The Bryce Canyon National Park is just a few miles from the city. Once there, there are plenty of trails to explore, with different lengths and difficulty levels for beginners and avid hikers alike. The Navajo Trail is a popular one, but the Mossy Cave Trail, hiking up to see Thor’s Hammer, or to Fairview Point for incredible views are great too.

The natural archway bridge won’t give the Arches National Park a run for its money, but it’s a great Instagram-ready photo opportunity for sure. You won’t be able to cover all the various viewing points, walking trails, and special sites in a single day, but anyone who loves hiking and the outdoors will especially enjoy Bryce Canyon National Park.

Dark Ranger Telescope Tours

The Dark Ranger Telescope Tours are ideal for travelers who enjoy getting out at night, not just in the daytime. Utah boasts some of the darkest nights in the U.S. which makes it perfect for night sky watching.

Gazing up at the stars using the supplied enormous telescopes for individual use is a trip – most amateur astronomers never get to enjoy using a telescope this powerful or night skies clear enough to see everything possible from their location.

The Ruby’s ATV Tours hosted by the folks at Ruby’s Inn provides a great opportunity to get around the national park while covering more ground. Never mind the rough terrain – their ATVs are capable of getting you out to remote spots that would tear up a good pair of sneakers if attempted on foot.

Their range of ATVs includes several different Polaris models for 2-6 passengers (ideal for families or groups traveling together), traditional ATVs, and the Can-Am Commander too. Rides are of half hour or hour-long duration with sunset rides by arrangement too.

The interesting range of activities in this part of Utah is a good match for families wanting adventure or people who love hiking adventures during the daytime and clear skies at night. There’s even horse riding if you want to see the park at a more sedate pace too.
