Regis Philbin’s Long-time Connecticut Home!
The loss of Regis Philbin was a big blow to millions of his Live! Morning Tv show fans and Americans as a whole. The radiant smile and charm that he brought to his show will be forever missed. Shortly before his dreaded heart attack that resulted in his death, the popular TV host and his wife, Joy, had just sold their Greenwich, Connecticut home.
Having lived in the home since 2008, the Philbin’s listed the property in late 2019 with the intent of moving closer to their children in California. Reports by GreenwichTime.com shows that the home went for nearly $4.015 million (£3.07 million).
According to Regis’ wife Joy, this was the best home she shared with her deceased husband. She told the Wall Street Journal, “We’ve moved around a lot and lived in many houses together, but this house was our favorite. We celebrated many birthdays and holidays and never had to worry about inviting too many of our family and friends. There was always room for everyone.”
The Philbin’s English manor-inspired property rests on about 2.59 acres of land, with the main house covering 13,661 square feet. Expansive manicured lawns surround the home alongside several beautiful flower gardens and an array of mature trees. These same features also characterize the neighborhood homes.
The home, built in 1995, was designed with luxury, entertainment, and convenience in mind. It comes with six bedrooms and nine complete bathrooms, with no shortage of space for family togetherness. It also boasts of having large formal dining and living rooms, a spacious eat-in kitchen, a family room, and a mahogany-paneled library.
For entertainment, the home comes with a large cinema room, gym, sunroom, a billiards room, Sauna, a wine cellar, and a tasting room complete with a full bar.
Outdoors, the lavish estate hosts a large swimming pool and tennis courts with terraces for entertainment and dining. Garden-linked walkways strew from the pool area sprawling into the backyard. You also can’t miss the ornate fountain right beside the pool, giving it a vibrant contemporary touch.
The home also comes prepared for those chilly New England winters, with seven fireplaces and a two-story foyer for guests. Additionally, leading from the gated driveway is a large garage that can accommodate up to five cars.
News of the Philbin’s death surfaced on 24th July, which the family confirmed that same day. The top entertainer left a massive legacy for himself, being a Guinness World Record holder for the most on-camera hours, raking over 15,000 hours. Perhaps his most memorable time on Tv was on his last show Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee Which he hosted alongside Kathie Lee and later on, Kelly Ripa.
Regis Philbin also hosted and was part of numerous shows, including the popular Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Million Dollar Password, and was a judge in the season one of the hugely successful talent show, America’s Got Talent.
The home’s listing agent was Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby’s International Realty, Greenwich Brokerage.
