BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: Please tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from, where did you grow up, any training or education background?
SUMMER CROSLEY: I grew up in the Midwest in a very small town in southern Illinois, I graduated with a B.S. in Marketing from Southern Illinois University and from there relocated to sunny Los Angeles.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: When did you discover your love for modeling?
SUMMER CROSLEY: As a little girl I was always in awe by all the beautiful women in the magazines and thought it was so inspiring and so cool to be a model. However, I never really had the confidence to go out and pursue it. But that all changed when I started getting involved in a lot of ocean conservation charities about 15 years ago and on a trip to Bali Indonesia for a beach cleanup, I was approached by GQ magazine to do an article and photoshoot on me and my beach cleanup effort. It was then during the shoot that I was like, year I can get used to this. Not bad to get your picture taken on exotic beautiful beaches.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: How do you prepare for a shoot?
SUMMER CROSLEY: I try to relax and be confident. Even though I have been a model for many years, I had to admit I still get nervous from time to time. When all the focus and attention is on you it can be a bit overwhelming at times. But with some deep breathes, a positive mind set and confidence it makes the shoot go smoothly.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: What is your favorite part of modeling?
SUMMER CROSLEY: The travel, and people you meet on your journey. Life is so special and those moments when you can see hidden gems of this world we live in and the people and culture that comes with it is priceless, and full of a lifetime of memories.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: What is the worst part?
SUMMER CROSLEY: Jet lag, and trying to adjust to time zone differences.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: What makes you unique as a model?
SUMMER CROSLEY: I believe what makes me or any model or individual unique is who they are deep down as a person, there heart and soul. We all so unique and different in our own ways, which is what makes this world go round.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: What fashion brands would you most like to work for?
SUMMER CROSLEY: Wow so many to name, I would say Versace, her styles and shows are amazing. There is such a strong energy in the brand, especially on the runway.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
SUMMER CROSLEY: To just be you, do not change and try to act like someone you are not. Because at the end of the day, people are going to like you for you.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: You’re involved in charity…Why is giving back important?
SUMMER CROSLEY: It’s important to give back , because we as humans take so much. The world population of people is increasing vastly every single year and we must all come together and reduce and reuse. As we are consuming way to much and to many people have the mindset “out of sight out of mind”. When in fact if we do not all change our ways now and be more ecofriendly we will be in big trouble. Fortunately, California is at the forefront in making positive changes that seem to influence other states. So we need to keep up the good work.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: Have you discovered a personal purpose in what you do?
SUMMER CROSLEY: I love to educate the younger generations and be a positive influence. Anytime I can make a child aware of small changes they can take to help our environment it means so much to me.
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: Where can readers keep up with you?
SUMMER CROSLEY: Instagram of course @summercrosley
BEVERLY HILLS MAGAZINE: Anything else you’d like to add or share???
SUMMER CROSLEY: Just keep on smiling, as that small smile can really change a person’s day.
