Ultimate Luxury Car: The Bentley Bacalar

The all-new Bacalar unveiling was to be at the Geneva International Motor Show earlier this month. But the event got suspended because of the rapid spread of the deadly Covid-19, which has affected most European countries. Hence, the iconic automaker in the UK unveiled this luxury car from Bentley via an online video.

According to Adrian Hallmark, who is the CEO and Chairman of Bentley, they will only be twelve Bacalar. He went further to state; all the units are pre-sold. Also, Mr. Hallmark described the cool car, “as rare and remarkable.”

The Bentley Mulliner Bacalar is an exceptional rare two-door luxury car for the modern era. Named after a Laguna called Bacalar, found in Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. This is a naming strategy, where they continue to name cars after noteworthy landmarks. An example being the Bentley model released in 2015, Bentayga.

What’s Hidden Under the Hood of this Luxury Car

The Bentley director of design, Stefan Sielaff, describes Bacalar as a “resting beast.” Unlike other Bentley models, the all-wheel Bacalar appears more aggressive.

Under the hood of the yellow flame skin Bentley lies, the tried and tested 6-litre bi-turbo W12 engine. This uprated engine offers a significant 650 horsepower and a total torque of 667 pounds-feet. Plus, it features an eight-speed gear transmission and a top speed of 200 mph.

The Design and Luxurious Interior

Well, it’s worth noting the breathtaking Bentley Mulliner Bacalar borrows a lot from the Continental GT convertible. But what sets them set apart? The obvious one is the styling element on the roadster, Bacalar. Two is the rice husk ash that they have used on their paints.

The interior of this cool car is entirely on another level, apart from the most exquisite lashing stitches and perforated leather. Bentley has wrapped the dashboard with river wood fetched from eastern England.

All twelve customers are going to co-design the interior along with the Bentley team. As Sielaff, the design director mentioned during the lunch in Bentley’s headquarters. “Every exterior color, every interior layout is possible.” He also said, if the customers want different wheels than the one present, it’s technically doable.

The Asking Privilege of Owning Bacalar

The two-door, two-seater convertible Bacalar luxury car of the new era, is only limited to twelve units. But, the rough estimate is about $1.5 million, and the last price depends on the various specifications requested with each customer.

Final Take

Though the design of the hard parts favors the Continental GT, the bespoke lights at the front and rear are stylish. The front bumpers give the Bacalar an aggressive look, while they built the front and rear wings using carbon fiber. This allows creases and lines which would otherwise be impossible with metal.

Close details in Bentley Mulliner Bacalar appear to derive from concept cars, like the old speed 12 or EXP 100GT. Also, the aero aggression style is like that of Ferrari. But still, the real attitude on the outside and supreme class on the inside portrays a topical Bentley.
