Jeff Kolin Announces Retirement

Beverly Hills City Manager Jeffrey Kolin has announced his retirement effective, February 2, 2015, after five years of outstanding service with the city. Mr. Kolin has been City Manager of Beverly Hills since January 2010, and has served in a variety of government roles for more than 35 years. Widely recognized throughout his profession for excellence, Mr. Kolin has received many awards and held leadership positions on several professional organizations. He is currently Vice President of the California City Managers Foundation and an International City/County Managers Association Credentialed Manager.

Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse expressed deep appreciation to Mr. Kolin for his contributions to the City, particularly for his leadership during the nation’s worst economic downturn since the great depression. “Jeff came on board when the economy was at its low point and with his calm and skilled leadership, we were able to emerge from the recession stronger than ever,” stated Bosse.

“Leading Beverly Hills has been the high point of my career,” Kolin said. “This is a City with outstanding employees, engaged and sophisticated residents and a dynamic business community. Beverly Hills has the resources to meet every challenge with innovation and strength. It has been a privilege to work alongside so many outstanding and caring people.” During Mr. Kolin’s tenure, the City experienced several consecutive years with substantial budget surpluses and a AAA credit rating. Other significant accomplishments include the debut of the Roxbury ParkCommunity Center, a year-long Centennial celebration, the City’s first historic preservation program, completion of theBeverly Gardens Park Lili Pond and a reduction in long-term liabilities for employee retirement benefits. Throughout his career, Mr. Kolin has built unique partnerships with nonprofit organizations, citizens and private businesses to meet the needs of communities in a rapidly changing environment. Prior to his service to the City of Beverly Hills, Mr. Kolin was City Manager for the California cities of Santa Rosa and Pittsburg, and Deputy City Manager for the City of Santa Clarita.

Mayor Bosse indicated that efforts by the City Council to determine a successor to City Manager Kolin would commence soon.
Mr. Kolin and his wife Patty plan to retire in Santa Rosa, CA.
